Mission
The School of Social Sciences, Ateneo de Manila University, seeks to equip individuals and communities with perspectives and skills for local, national and global transformation, in the Jesuit tradition of excellence, service and the promotion of justice.
Areas of Work
The University is a leading academic institution of the social sciences in the Asia-Pacific region that works to form students who are competent, ethical and responsive to local and global social realities. The Department of Political Science is an academic department within the School of Social Sciences that seeks to contribute to advancing critical politics.
Atrocity Prevention Programs/Activities
The University, through the Department of Political Science, houses the Asia-Pacific Centre on the Responsibility to Protect-Philippine Office, and the Gender and Atrocity Prevention Working Group of the Asia-Pacific Partnership for Atrocity Prevention.
Additionally, it has engaged with relevant ASEAN intersectoral bodies specific to gender and women’s rights, and several national government and local organisations, to discuss women, peace and security, gender-based violence in emergencies and transitional justice.
