Mission

Our mission at femLINKpacific is to be a strong and effective feminist media platform for the community, recognising and affirming our multi- ethnic and multi-faith founding principles in order to create visibility on the issues faced within our society. We strive to ensure that women, girls and under-served groups have consistent access to key information and communication platforms to enable dialogue and solutions, raise awareness for women’s leadership, and inspire shifts in public and political opinion. We aim to address the imbalances upheld by traditional gender roles in decision-making structures, which impede women & girls’ effective participation, especially from the rural population and the poor, in communicating openly on common matters.

Areas of Work

We work with other feminist partners in Fiji, and the region, on movement building to influence positive transformative change in communities. Our work starts from the rural communities, local, national, regional and global. We continue to be instrumental in the regional advocacy of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, by providing advice, and advocacy for for national, regional and global strategies that ensure the full realisation of these commitments. We have developed an important model of integrating feminist practice and UNSC Resolution 1325 goals in a community of practice, committed to advancing conflict- prevention and human security.

femLINKpacific supports a diverse rural women’s network in Fiji with regional partners and allies, as we strive to ensure the protection of human rights and particularly Gender Justice in our feminist media work. In that respect, we see the similarities in our work and the pursuit of the WPS agenda, and the protection of human rights for all.
