Mission

The Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies (IHRP) plays a leading role in academic inquiry and practical wisdom in human rights and peace building. Its mission is to promote learning excellence in human rights and peace and to engage communities in the transformation towards just peace.

Areas of Work

IHRP implements:

  • Study programs: four graduate programs in human rights and peace (PhD, MA and undergraduate).
  • Research projects on issues such as migration, peace and security, law and justice, minority rights and human rights in ASEAN, as well as the impact of state recognition of religion on human rights.
  • Serves as host and secretariat for regional networks including ASEAN University Network - Human Rights and Peace Education.
  • Publishes the peer-reviewed Journal of Human Rights and Peace Studies biannually.

Atrocity Prevention Programs/Activities

Conducts workshops and training as well as community engagement in under-privileged areas. Holds conferences on prevention of mass atrocities and on human rights in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
