Overview of Gender Responsive Early Warning Systems - Progress and Gaps

12 Apr 2022

APR2P, in conjunction with the Asia Pacific Partnership for Atrocity Prevention (APPAP) have released a briefing paper assessing considerations of gender in early warning systems.

Many early warning systems, at the international, regional, national and subnational levels focus their attention on political violence and violent extremism. Far less attention is paid to gender-specific indicators and their role in warning of mass atrocity crimes.

The paper assesses key efforts in bridging this gap in early warning systems, and outlines the challenges that remain in integrating gender into violence and atrocity prevention.

The paper can be downloaded under the Gender and Atrocity Prevention Working Group page.
